Is anybody going to be in Marathon in Mar 12th to 22nd?
Lynx, I am headed that way now. I am leaving Cortez in the am 3-21, and heading to Venice, then probably Boca Grand, Ft. Myers and working my way down to Marathon. I will bviously not make it your dates however. I got a little held up in St. Pete, Vinoy Basin much much longer than anticipated. Had a little outboard issue, then the weather went nasty on me. Sailed from St. Peterburg back to Cortez yesterday and took a pretty good pounding in Tampa Bay, but boat and Capt did fine!! Once I sailed under the Sunshine Skyway, condions improved drastically. I finally got to an anchorage that protected me from these strong easterlies that have been howling down here at night and slept like a baby last night.
How is staying at the Vinoy these days? When I was in Florida 10 years ago, they were really trying to clean it out and not playing nice with Liveaboards.
I hope to be down that way next Winter.

It has cleaned up. More morring balls soon. More rules, not as wild as it used to be. You can still anchor out if you have shallow enough draft. Lots of people there. Some you might not like but almost all you will. Nice place to anchor and take the busses to see the keys.
