Title: Tennessee River from Paducah to Knoxville
Post by: okawbow on September 19, 2014, 09:46:14 PM
I'm thinking about doing the Tennessee river in my Bristol 24. Over 600 miles, with several large lakes to sail. I would go upstream as far as I could go in the Bristol, and return to Kentucky Lake dam.

Does anyone know the bridge heights on the upper Tennessee? I'd like to be able to leave the mast up the whole trip. I've done the Tenn-Tombigbee 2 times, and suspect the bridge clearances are the same for the navigable river on north.

Sound like a worthwhile trip?

I believe the minimum bridge height for no opening bridges is 56', My 31 Bombay clipper has no trouble scooting around. You should have no trouble getting to Knoxville.
