We got my new/old boat to her new home slip in St. Simon's from Satellite Bch Fl. after an approx. 36 hr trip that included some 8 hrs of very lumpy, confused seas approx. 25-30 miles offshore of Jacksonville Fl. on 05 April. Indispensable crew consisted of one member of this site, Snapdragon, and 2 old buddies from Rome Sailing Club out of Leesburg, Al., Randy and Marvin. Snapdragon is one excellent mechanic and crew, proving his worth many times! Randy and Marvin were fantastic and taught me many things about real sailing on this trip. We finally got underway from Cape Canaveral at 1400 hrs 04 April and arrived at St. Simon's outer marker at 0300 06 April, dropping anchor just outside of Frederica Yacht Club around 0450 to wait for daylight so as to locate new slip. Thanks to all who offered info and/or help here! CYU on the water!
Congrats, Bonzai!
Sounds like a good trip; a 36 hour run is a good shakedown for your new-to-you boat. I look forward to hearing more about your explorations of the St. Simmons area.
Nice picture, too. ;D
Congrats!
It is amazing what great folks we have on this site! Enjoy your new boat.
