Well, not really but I always wanted to say that-grin.
Laura and I will be off the board for a while. We leave tomorrow morning aboard a friends Tartan 41, bound for Isla Mujeres, Cancun and Belize. We'll be sending a SPOT report once a day to David (Grime) so he can post our position as we sail. We could be offshore as long as 7'or 8 days.
Y'all be good while we're gone-grin
I'm betting on 10 days. (lol). Marc
Sounds like a great trip. Hope the winds and seas are in your favor!
May the blessing of Fair Winds follow you on your journey!
Take pictures and enjoy!
Have a safe trip.
You need me to go get a picture of Tehani weathering the winter we are still having? You know, something to remind you of 35 N while you are in the tropics? (It snowed here a bit yesterday and some sleet this morning).
;D
Sure! We won't get to see the pics for a while though. Say hello to Graham for us.
Here is a link to trailer sailor thread of them leaving. Has some photos and the first spot.

Some photos we took yesterday. If anyone is wondering about his backstay being so thick its because his SSB antenna runs up the backstay.

Have a safe passage! It sounds like a fantastic voyage. We've been to Belize several times and will definately go again and not soon enough. Just got back from Isla Mujeres and found it to be a lot like San Pedro out on Ambergis Cay which is a flavor I like. Cancun? Well, we never made it farther than 'the strip' and honestly, I can't see it as a cruising destination ;D Looking forward to your photos and stories.
Day 4 of their passage. Anytime you click on the link it will show you their latest position that they have sent me.

Have a great cruise! Look forward to your updates and photos.

From todays spot it looks like they are headed to Progresso, Mex. The photo site is up to date with 7 days.
Charlie called but was breaking up so bad. The are in Progresso, Mex after bucking to weather for 7 days.
I'll post more when I hear from them.
As said, we came into Progreso after 7 days to weather. All crew sick with colds by the way, but all better now.
Tore the leech on thee jib and couldn't sail to windward. Didn't have enough fuel remaining to make Isla Mujeres, so diverted to Progresso- found the chart on the IPhone by the way, at 100 miles out.
Garmin didn't know it existed.
VERY pleasant experience clearing in- all officials came to the boat- no charge other than the approx $24 tourist card fee,, good for 180 days.
Had the sail resewn for $100 US- guy did it in one day!!!
We've recouped , toured Progresso which is NOT a very touristy place yet, but will be.
Plan to sail on in the AM, towards Isla Mujeres. Sails back in shape, full fuel load and rested, well crew.
Glad everyone is well and you're ready to set off again. Have fun
They arrived at Isla Mujeres today.

Email from Charlie,
You saw we FINALLY made Isla Mujeres. 14 days!! But Progresso was fun- worth the few days.
And yes, we bucked to weather the entire trip. Made the last 160 miles in 3 1/2 days, at times bucking dead into 20, 24, 26 knots. Unable to sail- just motoring. YUCK!!
On the other hand
The weather is gorgeous, water a lovely jade green, fading to turquoise, blue skies and I'm barefooted and in a bathing suit.
So it's really hard to complain- grin

We'll be leaving Isla in a few hours, heading on down towards Belize.
Gonna gunkhole our way down. Don't know when next Internet will be so adios for a bit.
Grime has pictures on Photobucket. He'll maybe post a link.
Here is the link to the Charlie J and Laura Album. I'll up date the album as I get Spot locations daily and photos when they send them.

Howdy folks. Didn't make it to very far :D
Sitting in Marina El CID, Puerto Moreles, Quintana Roo, Mexico waiting for the forecast nasty front to come through. Nice placement quite reasonable- slips are $1.00 foot US. Find THAT in the states!
Yesterday Laura and I rented a car and drove south about 80 mm to visit the Mayan ruins at Tulum. Neat place. I'll post some pics later from the laptop. The outer areas are all tourist traps and restaurants but they have carefully preserved the ruins. Nothing done to change anything. Tons of tourists but still very interesting.
More later. Time for a hot shower ;D
Good to read that the cruise is going well. Enjoying the interesting photos and updates. Look forward to those of the Mayan sites.
Fair winds,
-Jim
Jim,
Here's the link to the album that I put together for them. I update as I get the photos from Charlie.

Back home again. Flew in from Cancun yesterday. Had to get up at 0200 to make the 0615 plane :P :P :P
Cancun to Dallas, Dallas to Corpus Christi, then driven home (80 miles) by David (grime) and his wife. Long day.
Now gotta crank up on repairing a broken boat for a neighbor so we can go back to Tehani asap :D
Now we're home with reliable internet, I'll post some pics,, probably this evening.
And???
Looking forward to seeing some more pics.
You saw my thread in Boat discussion???

Been kinda busy, BUT-
We are scheduled to leave here for North Carolina on May 1. Plan is to haul out in New Bern, do a bottom job, then head on up to the Chesapeake Bay for the summer.
Sold one vehicle today-no need for two when cruising, and getting stuff stacked up to load for when we leave
After that? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
We have no schedule. ;D
Pics will come as we progress ;)
QuoteWe are scheduled to leave here for North Carolina on May 1.
Great to hear, looking froward to your travels, maybe it will be easier to check in along the Eastern Seaboard.
Oh- and one pic for you- sailing off Isla Mujeres, bound for Puerto Moreles
and one more-
Beach at Mayan ruins at Tulum
;D ;D ;D I've been on that beach!!
David, Thanks for the earlier post of the link to the photos.
Charlie, Those are more great photos. The water water color is brighter (more like the photos from the Bahamas) than I expected.
I'm also looking forward to following the next phase of your cruise.
-Jim
Thanks. We thought the Bahamas water was better, but then we didn't get as far
down as Belize

Too bad...you maybe could have seen Alberg 30 #478 down there (she winters in Belize, summers in Guatemala). They do get around, don't they? ;D
The dude that used to own her now sails a Pearson Vanguard. A-30, Pearson Vanguard ... good taste in boats, and he seems like sailfar kind of guy.
Yep- and that Vanguard was a Rhodes design, for Pearson. Big sister to Tehani- looks like she's a Tehani on steroids.
Here's a pic of the Vanguard I worked over for a customer a couple of years ago.
