Title: Ducks...
Post by: Godot on July 01, 2016, 04:46:17 PM
I have not been able to take Seeker out at all this year. The reason? Mama duck has decided to make her nest here. I've been impatiently waiting for her ducklings to hatch.

A week or so ago, one duckling did hatch. I accidentally scared mama off the boat and duckling number one made the four foot jump into the water after her without thinking. Even though there were three unhatched eggs left, I figured that was probably that.

The next day, mama is back. I don't know what happened to the little duckling. It's been over a week so I figured the eggs were probably not viable. But today there was a little egg movement. I'm not sure why one egg was early and the others are late; but that seems to be the case. No sailing for Seeker this independence day.

Fortunately, I was handed the keys to the soon to be father-in-laws Catalina 25. I'll be happy to be able to play on the smaller, much more nimble boat. Still, I can't wait until these ducks get on with things!
