Title: Nav Stations, -> Tablet?
Post by: s/v necessity on April 08, 2024, 11:48:02 AM
Just curious as to what the "nav station" is looking like for folks.  Is a cellphone or tablet cutting it for most folks?  (Please share your current working setup on a small boat)

I use Navionics on my phone.  I need a tablet so I won't have keep switching between sun and reading glasses.

Hard to beat a cell phone and iPad.
I have both navionics and iSailor
I tend to use iSailor most simply because I'm more familiar with it and like the chart.
When we sailed déjà vu ove we literally just used the cell phone.
Hard to justify the price of a plotter anymore.....

Tablet and paper, primarily. Also have phone capability, and still sporting an old school handheld Garmin 76CSX. ;D

Planning to implement a RaspberryPi ships computer, for belowdecks nav planning/entertainment, documentation (food/gear/parts lists, etc)...

Android Tablet with Navionics and Aquamaps. The tablet was in a folio that folds to prop it up. I keep it on the companionway sliding hatch.

I have a couple Raspberry Pis onboard that are not set up yet.
