Doing great Frank, I check in here all the time...  most of my cruising is in the van right now.....  hope all are doing well, and hope to see you 'out there' again soon.

Yo!  Present and accounted for.
Having a virtual roll call sounds like a good idea to me. I tend to do a lot of lurking and get too lazy to give any meaningful input. Ya just have to wake me up sometimes!
I'm still hanging out at the farm, making excuses to myself for not getting Puff back in the water and off on another adventure. Let's keep talking, and maybe I'll get past this.
A special thanks to Craig for introducing me to this forum (and the turnbuckles), and to Charlie for the visit and inspiration. I haven't met Frank, Jim, Norman, or any of the others who contribute so well to this forum, but hope one day to get off my butt and catch up with them. Thanks guys!

I check the site every week or two. My windlass is re-installed on the bowsprit and new tiller installed, ready for Tillermaster. I'm planning lazy jacks; when the main comes down it's all over the place. I plan to replace standing rigging before installing ratlines. The 1x19 shrouds and stays have only been aboard since 1979 and not sailed much, but I'm doing it anyway.  I'm splicing my own 7x19 galvanized, maybe some kind of stainless for the jibstays.

I sold my boat, bought a Roadtrek, retired and still like boats.  I have a sailing kayak (Folboat).

It is easier to cruise in a camper van than a sailboat, if you need to provision, just drive to WalMart and then stay overnight in the parking lot!

I discovered some amazing lakes to sail on. There are many reservoirs that are very large lakes in very remote areas. Lake Powell, Lake Mead are just a few examples.  They are all over the west, in the desert, in the mountains, often in some spectacular country.

If I could figure out how to cruise the reservoirs in Arizona with a trailer sailer, I could keep busy all year.

A camper van towing a Montgomery 17 would open up endless possibilities!!
Literally.....

I think Paul needs a Sea Pearl 21 for that adventure. With the add-on canvas "doghouse" you can weather below, it's a super easily driven boat that'll just about sail on dew, and the unstayed spars with their roller furling capability allow for an unlimited amount of sail combinations, and it's a 10 minute launch setup. :)

Ideally I could sleep in the boat on a trailer, camped out anywhere.

Shore life is kicking our collective butt.  Well, life in general.  As of last night, we are dealing with the fourth death in the family in slightly over one year.  This most recent was my Mom, and a month earlier to the day was my wife's sister.

All in all, we are doing ok, though.  Head above water and all that.  The children all but beg me to move back on the boat and we are looking at cleaning up the little trailer boat and doing some small trips that way.  We'll see.

Been doing a ton of camping lately, but not in a camper.   :D

Good to hear from so many "old-timers," in the sailfar membership sense not age sense.

Fair Winds to All!

Good hearing from you John
That a lot of loss in one year....
Neat to hear the kids want back aboard. All children I've met that cruised any amount of time seemed more mature, easier to talk to and handier.
Have fun with the little boat.
Pictures when it happens 😄

JR,his wife and kids met us in North Carolina some time ago. The boy was still quite young, but I'll tell you this- his daughter is one sharp young lady.
