He was certainly a very open,creative 'out of the box' thinker. 680 designs in all. I remember truly enjoying his contributions in small boat magazine in the 80's. Saddly,he took his own life realizing diminishing mental capacity.
That is a bummer. Like you, I loved what he called his "cartoons" if I remember and, of course, the elegant simplicity of most of his work.
Somewhere, I have a photocopy of a design of his. It was a book of his called 20 Odd Boats or something. It was Palo de Agua, an interesting little boat for a single explorer. My mind raced with ideas of Central and South America in that little centerboarder.
