Hey guys!  Just purchased the above radio off amazon and was wondering what I need to do to get it registered for the DSL?  Thanks for your time, Marc

Don't know exactly but be VERY. Sure you do it right. You get ONE shot without a whole lot of hassle

Marc - First go to Boat US and get an MMSI for that radio.  if the manual didn't come with -- you can look it up online how to set the radio up.  The radio may have to be sent back to the factory if an mmsi has already been set in it.
The MMSI is set into the radio and goes only for the boat it's on.  My 2200 has too be sent back if the MMSI is put in.

The BoatUS route is easy and free. If you ever plan on traveling foreign, though, you will need to get one from the FCC which is not free (though not too expensive) and not so easy to figure out as the website is a bit confusing.

Thanks guys!!!  Just an update, received the 16600 Sunday and it is on it's way BACK to the sender.  I thought it had GPS in it and the ad makes it look like it does, but it doesn't which requires you to buy an antenna.  Didn't want to do that so tomorrow while Amazon Prime is going on I'll see just how much the 1700 will be at and will probably buy that radio.
