I went to my marina today at Carlyle lake, in southern Illinois. Divers were trying to float a C&C 30 that sank in its' slip during a lightning storm. It was probably hit by lightning and holed. I left before they got it floating, but they didn't seem to be having much luck while I was there. They had bags all around the boat, and 1 bag inside at the bow, but they weren't able to get the bow up out of the mud.
An older boater that had been at the marina for many years, said that other boats on that same dock had been hit by lightning, and one of them sank also. I'll keep my boat at the other end of the marina.
