Thanks for posting that. It's beautifully written and very interesting for a variety of reasons.
I think SAIL has a prize named after Freeman.
When I worked for a magazine (remember those things?) in the pre-digital age (only a few years ago), our art director had to pick cover art from slides. We didn't use Billy Black very often because he was too expensive, but the big mags like Sail and Cruising World often used, and still use, his work. If you ever get to meet him, Billy's also a great guy.
