Title: Montgomery 17 out in the Pacific...
Post by: Bill NH on March 06, 2008, 03:36:00 PM
Came across this post on another forum about a guy singlehanding a modified Montgomery 17.  Started out in California and arrived in the Gambier Islands about two weeks ago.  Reportedly bound for New Caledonia, OZ and points beyond.  Anyone know more details?  Don't think he has a blog.  This photo is reportedly with the builder just after launching...

Wow,

The limerick about the "... man from Boston, who owned a little red Austin..." comes to mind ;). I'll have to say that it's not the boat for me but if he can do it, then more power to him. It does sound as though he has thought it out. Does anybody think that the cockpit drains are too small? Or is it just me ????

Fair winds,

Pappy Jack

P.S. Just gotta love a guy who would pull this off. I wish him all the best.
