Title: Gallettes... simply yum!
Post by: s/v Faith on February 01, 2007, 07:27:50 PM
This is one of the simple items Rose used when she was first seducing me made when we were first dating.

  It is really simple.

2 3/4 cup flour
1 Tb sugar
1/2 ts salt
1package dry yeast
2Tb butter
1 1/6 cup warm water

Combine  1 cup of flour, sugar, salt, & yeast stir well.
Add softened butter and warm water, mix in remainder of flour.  Knead, allow to rise and then pinch off 3 to four fingers at a time and fry in butter.  Serve warm.

She would make bread dough, stone ground flour is best, but any dough will probably do.

You make the dough, let it rise and fry it in butter.  No oven needed.  It is WONDERFUL.  Spread a little peanut butter on it for a breakfast/lunch, or just eat with soup or stew.
