Just curious....is that a picture from the world famous "Dew Drop-Inn"?

We are Home!! Or so Laura claims Tehani was in fair shape
Inside- some mildew which Laura has taken care of. Good bit of work to do yet, but we are moved back aboard.

I have a happy wife :D

Hey Charlie and Laura  Very happy to see your aboard again, How long are you going to be in the Oriental area? We need to pick up our dingy from the consignment shop there, we are headed that way now.  Fair winds if we miss you but if so look to your stern were not far behind.

CharlieJ

Hi Mario-we're anchored in the Bay River, one above the Neuse. We'll probably leave Mon, weather permitting, bound for Okracoke.

We'll see you somewhere along the way.

Charlie and Laura,

Thanks for the visit today.  Sorry the boat could have been 'more presentable.'   ;D

On a happy note, the rain did not last long and I did manage to get 5-6 hours of work done.

Yes, I'm sore again, already.

Hope you guys have a good wx winder to get underway in the next few days, and have a good trip across the Sound.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain

We enjoyed it. We were talking about cutting into your work time before the rain. Glad you managed to get some done.

Laura got big kick out of her marina tour by Hunter. And the explanation of the value of being on B dock.  That's a neat young lady you have there.

Of course Johnathan is too, but that's a little boy neat- grin.

Woohoo!! After 8'long months, Tehani is underway again.
Bottom painted, stores aboard, at 0740 we cranked and hauled the anchor.

Bound out across Pamlico Sound towards Okracoke.

Great to be cruising again!!!

Due to a deteriorated weather forecast. Whitecapping at 0700!

I guess we'll hang here for the day- had planned to try to get to Manteo today.

CJ & Laura, It is good to see you back aboard Tehani and cruising again. Enjoy the the charts of your anchorages--and the photos. CJ, I saw the masking tape in the upper right of the photo of you sanding the bottom. Is that the new top of bottom paint/waterline?

Fair winds,
Jim

That's it. We left it where it was at the stem and raised it aft several inches- to the corners of the outboard well to be exact.

Much better now.

Running downwind Pamlico Sound. Was a broad reach moving 5-5.5 kts until noon then the wind moved aft. We are making about 4-4.5 under genny. Sunny and warm today. Great sail!

As can be seen, wemare anchored just off Buck Island, above Albemarle Sound. Had a great trip across, even though the weather folks lied. Predicting winds W at 10, we had  NW at close to 18 at times.  But Tehani put her shoulder into the seas and splashed a tad but sailed on across.

Buck Island is a place I stayed on my first cruise to the Chesapeake, right at 30 years ago. We are anchored within a few hundred feet of where I was that time ;D

Sure didn't expect a 30 year gap. Sure is good to be doing it again, and with this special lady in my life.
